At the end of an event/milestone if you entered defects against a project, you will typically need to review your bugs.  Here is an example of how to use the filter to do this.

First, select the Event in the top right corner that you filed your bugs against.  Now go to the Defects view and click on the Filter button above the grid.  In the filter, go to Submitted By and select your name.  In the Status field you would want to select the appropriate state that you wish to close out, typically "Fixed".  Now you will have a list of all the bugs that you submitted that claim to be fixed and you can use this to verify that they have been fixed and close them out or re-open them if you have determined that they are not fixed.  For each bug, adding a comment in the Solution tab indicating your findings, then switch the status and save.

Now this is a useful thing to have on hand at all times to keep on top of bug verification.  Let's save this filter by going to the Dashboard view.  Enter a name for your filter like "My fixed bugs" and click on the save icon.  Now for any event that you want to find your list of bugs marked fixed, just choose the global event and select your saved filter from the filter drop-down in defects.
