Start with your master video, starting from the point after you would record your intro and ending before the point you would record your exit.  Then...
  1. In Camtasia, go to Tools -> Camtasia Audio Editor -> Create new audio file.
  2. Record your intro and exit audio files here and save them in your project folder, the length of the recordings is not important.
  3. Next create your intro and exit images and copy them into your project folder.
  4. Now, in Camtasia, go to "Import Media" in the Add menu bar on the left side of the application.
  5. Import both media files and both images.
  6. Above the time line there is a drop-down menu labeled "Tracks".  Select "Audio 2 Track" from this menu.  A new track will appear on the timeline.
  7. Add your intro track and then your exit track to the Audio 2 Track so they are in that respective order.
  8. Now add the intro image to the front of the Video track.
  9. Add the exit image to the end of the Video track.
  10. Now, note the length of the intro audio track by hovering over it for the tooltip information.
  11. Right-click the intro image item in the Video track and select "Image Duration".  Make this the same as the length of the audio track.
  12. Do the same for the exit image item using the length of the exit audio track.
  13. Now you can slide the intro audio file all the way to the left to match the position in the time line with the intro image, and do the same to the exit audio file by sliding it all the way to the right.
By using this method, you preserve the synchronization of the Video track and Audio 1 Track.  Here is a picture of what the beginning of the timeline should look like in Camtasia:
